On 9th September, the Turkish authorities reported that a general cargo vessel, KNIDOS, was in danger of listing after colliding with a bulk carrier, NADEEN, in the Middle East Gulf.
In the collision, KNIDOS was hit at the starboard stern quarter, and later, the engine room started taking in water. The 13 crew members aboard the KNIDOS evacuated on the life raft and were later taken aboard the NADEEN, according to the authorities.
The cause of the collision between the vessels is not known. No casualties were reported aboard both the vessels.
KNIDOS is a Panama-flagged cargo vessel managed by Elkenz Shipping, Istanbul. The Marine Traffic data shows the vessel is laden and departed from DAMMAM Port, Saudi Arabia, on 8th September and was scheduled to arrive at MINA SAQR Port, UAE, by 9th September.
NADEEN is a bulk carrier built in 2005, registered under the flag of St Vincent & Grenadines. The traffic data shows the vessel is in ballast and departed from the COCHIN Anchorage, India, on 31st August. The vessel is currently at the DUBAI Anchorage.
